The Arousa Norte area is full of coastal villages and towns whose life is oriented towards the sea and which also live mainly from the sea. Either from their marine activity or from tourism. Together with them, two lagoons (one of salt water and one of fresh water) with extensive swamps and wetlands of international importance make up the most visited natural park in Galicia.

But not everything is nature, sea and beach on this route from Serra do Barbanza. We will also have time for history and even prehistory. One of the great megalithic jewels of the Iberian Peninsula awaits us on a journey to a time of no less than six thousand years.

The viewpoint of the sea.

As in other mountain ranges of Galicia, on this route from Serra do Barbanza we can witness the presence of wild horses and cows that have been bred in these mountains since ancient times.

As we ascend to the highest points, we reach the natural viewpoint of A Curota, the balcony to see Galicia from above. Both the panoramic view over the river mouths full of rafts and the horizon from which we can see from Santa Tegra to Finisterre make visiting this Serra do Barbanza an experience, especially if on a cloudless day. The views are so impressive that they make this location a favorite of all Galicians, according to a poll published by the newspaper “La Voz de Galicia”.
