The Camino Portugués from Baiona to Santiago is the alternative to the Way that starts from Porto along the coast, instead of the interior route that enters Galicia through Tui. It is a route of just over 120 kilometers of little difficulty. We will also have better weather on the southern coast of Galicia, always somewhat more benevolent than the north, with milder temperatures and less rainfall. From the fifth day on, our tour will pass through the interior, emulating the “Traslatio” of the Apostle, who entered Galicia through the Ría de Arousa.
The start of our tour, which begins in the beautiful town of Baiona, will take place near some of the most spectacular beaches in southern Galicia, very popular areas in summer. We will spend one night in the city of Vigo, one of the main cities in Galicia, which tends to surprise by its size and cosmopolitan style, although it also has the classic charm of the Galician historical centers, that kind of stone decorations full of life and flavour.
In the town of Redondela we will meet the pilgrims who make the central Portuguese Way route through the interior. From this point, the paths are joined.
Once we have left the coastal route, beautiful landscapes of the interior of Galicia await us: forests, vineyards and cultivated fields until we reach Compostela.
Buen Camino!
